What Am I Going To Be Graded On?
There are two kinds of points you can earn in our class...
"Practice Points" 20%
These are points you can earn for engaging in learning activities. Since you're still learning, it's not fair to grade these for accuracy (like how many you got right or wrong) - plus, don't we learn best by making mistakes? So you will earn these points for the learning you do. "Practice Points" might include activities we do in class, making models and posters, web based activities, worksheets, labs and experiments, and your ISN. "Practice Points" count for 20% of your overall grade.
"End Points" - 80%
The second kind of points in class are "End Points". These are points that happen near the end of each unit, and are there to see just how much you have learned. These kind of points ARE graded for accuracy. Your "End Points" are determined by how thoughtfully and accurately you can answer the Essential Questions for that topic. You might typically think of a test as an example of these kind of points, but there are many other ways for you to show what you know. Examples might include making a video, mind mapping, etc. - in other words making something creative with the knowledge in your head. "End Points" count for 80% of your grade.
What Is The Grading Scale?
A = 100 - 90%
B = 89 - 80%
C= 79 - 70%
D = 69 - 60%
F = Anything less than 60%
Is There Extra Credit?
Not really. To do well in this class, you need to master the stuff we're doing. However, if you want to go back and redo a project or test for a better score, you are strongly encouraged to do it. Check out "Redos & Retakes" for more info.
Where's the BEST Place to Check for Missing Work and My Grades?
Schoology - for sure! But NOT the App version of Schoology. That's not great for seeing your grades and missing work. The best way to see that is to log into Schoology using Safari and then bookmarking that page in Safari. Have you done that yet?
